Home Renovations
This post is mainly for my close friends and family that know of all the hard work we have been doing to the house over the last few weeks, and have yet to see any pictures yet! However anyone may enjoy looking at before and after pictures!
This all started a few weeks ago when Michael asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I told him I would be happy if we could just get the kids room painted! You see their room had a very ugly border around the top of the room that I was sick of looking at! So after researching on Pinterest that night, we decided to attempt to do it ourselves!
We started with what used to be Eden's room and is now Jude and Eden's room. Here is the progress of this room (we got the beds and bedding a few months ago):

The ugly border is cropped out here!
To get the border off we peeled off what we could, and then sprayed what was left (the sticky glue layer) with Lysol kitchen spray (suggested from Pinterest) and within 5 minutes, the "sticky" layer peeled right off with a scrapper.

.....and the end result:
I toned down their room a bit by changing the sheets and curtains to get rid of the "dorm room" feel Michael said it had!
Next we scraped the border off, painted, and rearranged soon to be Asa's room that same day!
....and the big reveal:
I recovered the rocking chair, sewed the curtains, and finished all his bedding! But Miss Eden is still occupying the crib, so I will finish up his room as soon as she moves out!
On Wednesday we painted the kid's bathroom.

...and the final product:
I bought a new shower curtain, shower rod, picture frames, and light socket covers. But I spray painted the light fixture, knobs, and hardware with Rust-Oleum Metallic Oil Rubbed Bronze (another Pinterest idea!) They turned out WAY better than I ever imagined they would!
This weekend we finished the kitchen/dining room.
...and the big reveal:
I spray painted the knobs, but bought new light socket covers.
New light fixtures for 75% off (only $37) on clearance from Lowe's!
A new way to display artwork, an old frame with chicken wire (from TJ Max).
....and the finished product:
I bought new curtain rods, and shower curtain rod, but again spray painted the knobs, light fixtures, and all other hardware!
It is almost embarrassing to look back now at the before pictures! I can't believe that we have lived here almost a YEAR and have never done anything to the house! All we have left to paint is the yellow hallway to the kids room! But I don't know that we will get to that before the birth of sweet Asa!
I think it is very safe to say that I got WAY more for my birthday than I asked for! I also may have taken "nesting" to a whole new level!
Here is also a look at our "mantel on a budget!" I covered old vases with twine, the kids gathered the sticks from the yard, and I strung the pine cones! What a wonderful way to start fall!
Michael has had every other weekend off from preaching, but starting in November he takes over to preaching every Sunday! I am very thankful that he has decided to spend his last few weekends off slaving around the house for me! I really have a great husband!
Thank you SOOOOO MUCH Michael for all your hard work! I LOVE YOU!
